Many animals have symbiotic relationships that benefit both species, including bison and birds. The birds get an easy meal while they clean bugs and seeds from the bison’s fur. As I painted this relationship I thought a lot about what each animal thinks of the other, especially what the larger bison perceives of their smaller feathered companions.
