Sunflowers

10”x10” oil on canvas, unframed

$200

A couple of years ago I noticed that the wild sunflowers growing near me roughly follow the sun throughout the day: most of them face east in the morning and west in the evening. This process (I learned) is called heliotropism, and evidently it stops as the sunflowers mature. It is a fascinating process to observe now that I know to look for it. And something I thought a lot about while painting this bouquet of sunflowers.
