Sometimes paintings come together easily, which was the case with this one. I particularly enjoyed playing with color, and this combination would inspire several other paintings with the same basic palette. Maybe it felt extra easy and fun to paint because my mind was remembering the hilarious Brian Regan’s “Stupid in School” skit. I have listened to that recording so many times that the word “moose” is always followed in my mind by “moosen”, which is then always accompanied by a little fluttery bubble of joy in my chest, an echo of the many, many tears of laughter I have shed while listening to that truly funny person.
