Eirene, Daughter of Poseidon

12”x9” oil on canvas, Framed to 14”x11”x1.5”

I wanted to highlight youth as a young adult, not as an age but as a state of mind. Here, a graceful, young woman walks along the shore, the boundary between land and sea, firmly on one but gazing out at the other. This mirrors my experience as a young adult, dreaming about the future unknowns, wishing I knew all the answers, but confident on my path none-the-less. How many of us have walked confident on our paths through life, winding as they are, but still drawn to that other possibility? So many of us are dreamers, rooted in reality, but questioning the what-ifs, what-might-have-been, and what-will-be.

This painting was created with oil on canvas and is framed using wood the artist found in her father’s workshop and made during a summer trip back home.
